Adopt A Farmer
How it works.
The Adopt A Farmer program connects you directly to a working San Diego County farm. You choose a farm, pick your sponsorship level, and your support goes straight to the grower. In return, you receive fresh produce at harvest, updates from the field, and periodic invitations to visit the farm throughout the season.
The Process
From adoption to harvest.
From the moment you adopt to the last delivery of your season, here's exactly what happens and when.
Choose your farm and your level
Browse the farms currently in the program. Each farm has its own crop, its own season, and its own set of sponsorship levels with different box sizes and delivery frequencies. Choose the farm you want to support and the level that fits your household.
Every level across every farm includes the same core benefits: a personalized adoption certificate, farm visit invitations, season updates, produce delivered to your door, and shipping always included.
Takes about 5 minutesYour support goes directly to the farmer
When you complete your adoption, your sponsorship funds go directly to the farm you chose, not to a distributor, not to a middleman, not into an operating fund. The farmer receives your support and uses it to invest in the current growing season.
This upfront support is what makes the model meaningful. Farmers typically spend heavily before any revenue comes in. Your adoption helps them bridge that gap.
Immediate impactReceive your adoption certificate
Shortly after your adoption is confirmed, you'll receive a personalized Certificate of Adoption. It documents your commitment to the farm, the season, and the grower you're supporting. It's shareable, printable, and designed to feel like the real thing it is.
Delivered digitallyStay connected throughout the season
As the season progresses, you'll receive updates from the farm: what's growing, how the crop is looking, what the weather has been doing, and what to expect at harvest. You're not just a purchaser. You're an adopter with a stake in how the season unfolds.
You'll also receive invitations to visit the farm in person. Farm events happen periodically throughout the season and every adopter is welcome to attend.
All season longReceive your harvest
When the crop is ready, you'll be notified to schedule your delivery window. Your produce is harvested to order and shipped directly from the farm to your door. Box size and delivery count depend on the sponsorship level you chose. Shipping is always included.
The produce you receive comes from the farm you adopted, grown under the same practices and care that made you choose it.
Farm to doorRenew or explore a new farm
As your adoption year comes to a close, you'll have the option to renew with the same farm or explore others that have joined the program. There's no automatic renewal. You choose what happens next.

Choose the farm you want
to support.
Two farms are currently in the program, with more being added. Each has its own goal for the season and its own harvest window.
Wild Acres Farm
Bonsall, CA · Dec 2026 – June 2027 · Certified Organic
The flagship of the program and home of Heal The Earth. A certified organic avocado farm in the hills of Bonsall.
A new farmstand on the property
A physical space right at Wild Acres where San Diego County residents can come to the farm, meet the growers, and buy what's in season.
Keeping Heal The Earth rooted at Wild Acres
Having Heal The Earth on-site means we can keep developing and running programs like this one, close to the land and the farmers we support.
Fortule Farms
Escondido, CA · July – December · Certified Organic
60 acres and more than 8,000 plants in the hills of Escondido, growing over 20 varieties of dragon fruit.
Getting Fortule Farms into local schools
Your support helps Farmer Ken cover the cost of certification to sell directly to the school system, which runs between $4,000 and $7,000. Once it's done, fresh, local, certified organic produce can flow straight into our community's schools.
Common Questions
Things people ask before adopting.
Yes. Every sponsorship level at every farm includes shipping. The price you see when you adopt is the total price. There are no added fees at checkout, no surprise charges when your produce ships, and no delivery add-ons. What you pay is what it costs.
Partially, yes. Heal The Earth is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 86-2651474). A portion of your adoption is tax-deductible, specifically the amount that exceeds the fair market value of the produce and shipping you receive. We'll provide documentation when your adoption is confirmed. Consult your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.
Yes. You can hold adoptions at multiple farms simultaneously. Since Wild Acres Farm's avocado season and Fortule Farms' dragon fruit season run at different times of year, adopting both keeps you connected to local farm-direct food for most of the calendar year.
Your produce always comes from the farm you adopted, grown under the same practices and care that made you choose it. It is farm-direct and fresh. However, we cannot guarantee that every item in your box came from your adopted tree or dragon fruit vine. What you receive depends on the seasonality of the crop, the natural yield of the land at the time of your order, and conditions that are simply part of real farming: weather, water, and factors beyond any grower's control.
Yes, and it makes a meaningful one. An Adopt A Farmer adoption gives someone a year-long connection to a working farm: a certificate in their name, farm visits to look forward to, fresh produce from the land they're supporting, and the knowledge that their gift went directly to a farmer who needed it.
