The piece looked at Adopt A Farmer, formerly known as Adopt An Avocado Tree, as a revenue-generating program built to give small, independent farms a direct line to the community that depends on them.
San Diego County is home to more than 4,500 farms, most of them family owned. Coverage like this helps more of them find their way into the program.
